Jasper is a city located in Pickens County, Georgia. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the city had a population of about 3,600 people in 2010. Jasper currently serves as the county seat of Pickens County.
The area Jasper is located in was first settled in 1825. In 1853, Pickens County was formed and Jasper was chosen to serve as the county seat. Throughout the Civil War, Jasper remained pro-Union despite its location in the South. In 1957, Jasper was incorporated as a city. The city bears its name in honor of William Jasper, a Revolutionary War veteran.

At night, temperatures will dip to the upper-60s. However, Jasper is not immune to heat waves. Temperatures will reach to the upper-90s on the warmest days of the year.
